On November 9th and 11th, Espacios Resonantes organized the project Som Sob o Solo: A Caverna de Plutão, a two-day event for the Museu da Água. We presented a hybrid performance that merged virtual reality with the physical space of the Reservatório da Patriarcal. The performance integrated the acoustics of various virtual spaces from previous expeditions with the site-specific acoustics of the Reservatório da Patriarcal, which was stimulated by the performers.

The hybrid performance was part of a sonic journey under the streets of Lisbon. This journey began within the underground tunnels of the Galerias do Loreto with the listening session Polyphono and culminated at the Reservatório da Patriarcal with the hybrid performance Wastelands. The entire journey constitutes the whole event titled Som Sob o Solo. Wastelands blends virtual reality with site-specific live music, immersing the audience in reverberating spaces and liquid architectures. The virtual space acts as a meta-instrument, enabling the performer to craft hybrid sonic atmospheres through interaction between the real space and the virtual environment.
